Below are the basic guidelines for re-opening Clark Little League for safe play under the NJ COVID-19 Guidance for Sports Activities.
Division Plans for 2020
The executive board has reviewed each division to determine the feasibility of safely returning to play. The viability of our proposed plan will depend on the number of families that decide to play. With that in mind, here is our proposed plan:
Majors Division, Minors Division and 8's Division will look to start practicing some time after June 22nd. Regular season games will begin on or after July 6th. The goal will be to play 3 games a week and complete a 10-12 game season. A single elimination playoff will follow the regular season in early August with the goal of ending on or around August 8th (weather permitting of course). We understand some may want to play but could miss some games due to vacations. Pool players will be used to fill in any gaps as necessary.
SUMMER TRAVEL AND NEW PROVIDENCE SUMMER GREEN LEAGUE - There will be no Clark teams participating in the New Providence Green League for the 2020 Summer Season. Given that there are other towns and counties involved, we do not feel it is in the best interest and safety of our Clark Little League families. Field availability is also a factor in this decision. There will also be no summer travel (or district) teams for Clark in the 2020 Summer Season. We are aware that there are discussions happening about having a State tournament and that districts, sectionals, etc. may occur. If that is the case, and district play does occur, the 12 year old Clark travel team and the 11 year old Clark travel team will be allowed to participate, assuming there is an 11 year old division.
Refund Policy
We understand that during these times many of our Clark Little League families could benefit from a refund of the registration fees. We had hoped to provide details on refunds earlier, but needed to wait on guidance from the state. We also wanted to avoid passing funds back and forth as this would incur additional fees for the league and our CLL families. Unfortunately, due to continued operating costs of the league (i.e. field maintenance, utilities, insurance, uniforms, etc.) we are not able to offer a full refund. Below is a breakdown by division since the costs differ by division.
Families with kids in the Junior League will have 2 options. Option #1 is to request a refund. Operating costs in the Junior League are lower than Clark Little League as the Junior League covers the majority of their costs independent of CLL. Therefore, refunds will be issued for the amount paid less $30. Option #2 is to donate the registration costs to the league, which is tax deductible as CLL is a recognized 501(c) 3 organization.
Families with kids in the Majors, Minors and 8's will have 3 options. Option #1 is to have your child(ren) participate in the season about to get underway. Under this option there will be no refund. Option #2 will be to request a refund. The refund will be the amount paid less $100 (this is a per family cost, not $100 per child). Option #3 is to donate the registration costs to the league, which is tax deductible as CLL is a recognized 501(c) 3 organization.
Families with kids in Pee Wees will have 2 options. Option #1 will be to request a refund. The refund will be the amount paid less $100 (this is a per family cost, not $100 per child). Option #2 is to donate the registration costs to the league, which is tax deductible as CLL is a recognized 501(c) 3 organization.
Here are a few examples of refunds:
Please note that we will be setting up scheduled times to pick up refund checks for those families requesting a refund. We will have the amounts paid on hand to confirm the refund amount and then a check will be issued for that amount.
